Sir Winston Churchill’s Legacy Continues: Churchill’s Great-Grandson speaking in Historic Downtown Richmond

There are more books written about Sir Winston Churchill than any other person on earth. Well, actually, there are more books written about the Christians’ Jesus Christ than any other Man, and Sir Winston actually is in the number two spot.

And now, Sir Winston Churchill’s great-grandson, Jonathan Churchill Sandys, will be speaking in Historic Downtown Richmond, Masonic Lodge, Richmond, Texas, February 11, 2012, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and for History buffs, this is one event you do not want to miss.

Churchill, prime minister of England during World War II, worked with President Roosevelt to insure the safety of America and England, and together they won the war. However, it was Churchill’s leadership that kept England from falling under the rule of Germany.

“My great grandfather was a brilliant man. His leadership skills, his quotes, his service to his country continue to be a hot topic even today. Most any time you turn on the television, you will hear someone quoting my great-grandfather. But what a lot of people do not know, is that he had a wicked sense of humor and was also an artist,” said, Jonathan Churchill Sandy, Churchill’s great grandson.

Jonathan Sandys, is very much described in a recent news article as a chip off the old block, and he looks very much like the young Winston.

Born in Surrey, England, in 1975, Jonathan was brought up on the exciting stories of his great-grandfather’s life and the amazing contribution he made to England, Europe and indeed the world. Today at 35 years old, Jonathan shares those inspirational and historical stories with a wider audience throughout Europe and the United States.

In his talk, February 11, in downtown Richmond, Sandys will be relating some of Churchill’s wit and telling all those little known facts that only family knows about a man who fills history books around the world.

Also, what most people do not know is that Winston Churchill was dyslexic, and struggled through school. His teachers basically pushed him aside, believing he would amount to nothing. But Churchill knew in his heart that God had a plan for his life and he never gave up on himself even though most others did. He continued to read history books and worked hard, always believing he had a place in this world.

Sandys talk will focus on never giving up, Sir Winston Churchill’s battle cry to that kept the English motivated. He will also speak on the leadership skills that made his great-grandfather the renowned world hero, the man who helped save America and the world.

Space is limited, so mark your calendars now and be sure to arrive early. Historic Richmond Association will be asking for donations at the door.

“I hope the community will come out, for I’ll be sharing some of the many funny stories and ripostes of my great-grandfather. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry, it will be an event all will enjoy,” Sandys said.

Sandys, landed in Houston from England in 2008, on invitations from former US. First Lady Barbara Bush and former Houston first lady, Andrea White, to be a part of Mrs. Bush’s Literacy benefit held that same year. He fell in love with Texas and Texan hospitality and so he has made Texas his home.

So arrive early, have dinner at Sandy McGees or Italian Maid Cafe, and walk across the street to hear Jonathan Churchill Sandys.
